An evening with Ted Koppel
Before last night i had only a general idea who ted koppel was. The discussion started a little later then the scheduled 730 start time. I guess pruis hall was full because they sent the overflow of people to the teachers college which is where i watched the presentation from. Ted seemed like a very knowledgeable person and mentioned his status about our national debt by saying, "Our Country is in Deep trouble.... and it is getting worse." He also mentioned something that i did not know which was that we have spent between 1 and 2 trillion dollars on the war in iraq and Afghanistan. He gave 2 ways to fix the debt, Raise Taxes, Cut Entitlements, and Print more money. None of which would have positive outcomes. He also stated that the war in Afghanistan is caused by the Nuclear weapons in Pakistan. Overall I thought he did a very good job and am glad i got an opportunity to hear him speak.

The famous Rev. Jesse Jackson
Seeing a flyer on the main entrance of lafallotte saying that Rev. Jesse Jackson was going to speak at Ball State I thought it would be a great opportunity to see an individual who has been so influential to our country. The auditorium was packed as the Reverend took the stage to talk about political and social topics. I forgot exactly what he said when he got the crowd to repeat in unison what he had said but it was really neat that crowd was so into it. Another thing i liked about him was even though he was running late he still took time for a Q&A session after he had finished speaking. Overall he met all my expectations of what he was going to do at ball state which was to inform us on his top of 'How are we living the legacy', and even shared events that happened between martin luther king jr and him self. It was very influential to have heard him speak and something i will never forget.
